Glimmerglass Film Days showcases exceptional independent filmmaking that explores humanity’s complex relationship with the natural world. Each year, the Film Days Steering Committee, led by curator Margaret Parsons, selects a theme. Previous themes include: It’s About the Water (2014), Sacred Places (2015), Against the Odds (2016), Home (2017), and Passages (2018).
For 2019, the theme is “Adaptations.”
Even as society reacts to technological progress, climate change, and fractious politics, we as individuals must adapt to changes in our everyday lives. Heraclitus uttered “the only constant in life is change” some 2500 years ago. The swift pace of change in today's world demands tenacity, creativity, and connection. This year’s films will explore how nature, society, and individuals persevere, persist, and plow ahead. What is the path forward? Given the swift pace of change, what “Adaptations” are necessary?
Join us November 7-11 as we explore the theme “Adaptations” through film, compelling presentations, and lively conversations.
