The theme for the fifth annual Glimmerglass Film Days is “Home.” Filmmakers will take us on a global tour of the places people live: the serene, the spoiled, and the spectacular; the beautiful, the barren, and the bucolic. From the rugged Mongolian steppe to a Mexican cloud forest, from a walled Italian village to the wild bush of New Zealand, from New York City to Kentucky’s Henry County to the beaches of Martha’s Vineyard, we will hear stories of community and conflict, innovation and tradition, generosity and redemption, hope and history.
We’ll meet people joining together to defend a way of life as well as individuals seeking to transform communities. Films follow people along trajectories that compel them (and us) to assess what is community, what is family, what is home.
During Film Days, we invite you to explore the place we call home. Take in art exhibits, gallery openings, and Cooperstown’s renowned museums. Restaurants along Main Street will welcome you with specials. Experience the natural, leaf-crunching beauty of Fall on a guided walk. Enjoy the taste of Otsego County at Film Days receptions that feature local foods and locally crafted beer, wine and spirits. Want to stay overnight? You’ll find a wonderful selection of B&Bs, inns and of course the grand Otesaga Hotel.
Film Days passes are now on sale and tickets to individual films and events will go on sale October 1st. We look forward to seeing you in Cooperstown November 9-13.
