Along with planning a long weekend of film-watching, we have partnered with several nonprofit friends to offer you the chance to enjoy the outdoors. These walks are free and open to all.

Brookwood Point Tour: One Property’s Passage through Time
On Friday, November 9 at 3:30 pm, Otsego Land Trust volunteer Ed Rowley will lead an hour-long walking tour of the Brookwood Point property, located on the west side of Otsego Lake, just outside of Cooperstown. Walkers will stroll along 100-year old Italianate garden beds and explore the arts-and-crafts style Garden House as Rowley tells the story of Brookwood from the time of Native American presence to the founding of Cooperstown, to OLT’s ownership of the site today.

Bird Walk on the grounds of the Fenimore Art Museum
On Saturday, November 10 at 11:30 am, join the Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society for a Bird Walk on the grounds of the Fenimore Art Museum. DOAS Board Members and leaders Becky Gretton, Charles Scheim, and Sandy Bright will lead you on an informative one hour walk. After the walk, consider coming to see High Tide in Dorchester, which is sponsored by the Otsego County Conversation Association and the Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society.

Get the Kids Out!! Adventure Hike for Families
On Monday, November 12 at 11:45 am, celebrate ‘Passages,’ the theme of this year’s Glimmerglass Film Days, on this fun walk along the Susquehanna River from Main to Mill Street. Led by the Otsego County Conservation Association, you can explore the natural and human history of the region, search for signs of animal life, and look for evidence of how the land has changed with the passage of time. The walk will depart from 22 Main at the conclusion of An American Tail, the free Glimmerglass Kids’ film which begins at 10 am at the Village Hall Ballroom.

Find more opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in Otsego County on the website OtsegoOutdoors.org. A joint effort of Otsego 2000, the Otsego County Conservation Association and the Otsego Land Trust, the website promotes publicly accessible places to hike, walk, paddle, ski, and bike.

Meet on the back patio of the Fenimore Art Museum in time for a 11:30 am start on Saturday, November 10.

OCCA Get the Kids Out Hike
Meet at the Village Hall (which houses the Village Library) at 22 Main Street at 11:45 am on Monday. The walk begins when the film American Tail concludes. You can register of the walk online.
