The Music of Strangers is fast approaching! + GFD & the Cooperstown community

Hi everyone! Long time no see.

We've got a lot to talk about this week, so hunker down.

First thing's first, our pre-festival screening of The Music of Strangers is rapidly approaching! It will be Thursday, September 15th at 6:30 PM (doors open at 6:00). This will be a wonderful event, not just because of how special the movie is (everyone loves Yo-Yo Ma), but because of the unique screening venue. As I mentioned in the last blog post, the screening is co-sponsored by The Glimmerglass Festival, which is providing the Alice Busch Opera Theatre for the event. Not only will this screening be a celebration of music, film, life and the human spirit, but of the Cooperstown area and its special ties to the arts.

Watch the trailer, and I'm sure you'll want to attend this film!

(I'm actually watching the trailer as I'm writing this, and I've got goosebumps. Take a Cinema Studies student's recommendation on this one, folks. You do not want to miss out on this movie!)

When Glimmerglass Film Days comes around this November, there will be more than just movies for you to enjoy. Each year, we make sure to involve the community as much as possible, whether it be though sponsorships, events, or featuring local venues, foods and spirits.

Like I mentioned, we're working with The Glimmerglass Festival for the screening of The Music of Strangers at the Alice Busch Opera Theatre. This is one of the many places around the Cooperstown area where we'll be screening films, although this event will be particularly special considering the world-class venue. Each year we screen movies at multiple locations, from the Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers' Museum to Templeton Hall right off of Main Street. By showing films at so many different locations, locals can see familiar venues turn into great screening rooms and tourists can be exposed to the great and varied destinations that Cooperstown has to offer.

Glimmerglass Film Days is an environmentally focused film festival, so what better way to experience the outdoors by actually being in it? In the past, we've partnered with local experts to lead hikes and walks, and we will do that again in November.

The best thing about having Glimmerglass Film Days in November is how breathtaking the area becomes during autumn. If you've never had the pleasure of coming to Cooperstown during the fall, the views will be worth the price of admission alone!

Hope you all have a great day! Remember to mark your calendars for The Music of Strangers on September 15th and of course November 10-14th for Film Days.
